Whew! Busy, busy, busy! Let's see, there have been lots of
plans made since my last update!
Since announcing the date, I realized I forgot to announce the one thing that I
am the absolute MOST excited about for the whole entire day, besides marrying
my best friend of course! I am FINALLY a Jenny Evelyn bride! I first discovered
Jenny Evelyn Photography back in 2008 when some
friends from VSU used Jenny for their engagement shoot at the VSU campus. Then
Jenny shot their wedding and I fell in love. I have stalked her blog for the
past three years dreaming of the possibility of working with her. Well, the
emails were sent, the Skype date was set, and it was a perfect match! I will
end up spending more time with Jenny on the day of the wedding than I will
anyone else, so I'm so excited that she is someone that I can already tell will
become a dear friend :)
I went to the South Georgia Bridal Expo with Jessica and Annabelle, and we had
the best time! Since my ring came from Steel's Jewlery I'm a
Steel's girl for life! We got our picture taken for a spread coming out in
their mailer this February. I will admit that while we were at the Expo,
Jessica and Annabelle got to see a bit of my diva side as I got lightheaded and
over heated. We went ahead and decided that someone will have the job of making
sure I always have plenty of ice water (with a straw of course!) and something
to snack on! We got lots of helpful info, and if nothing else, it was a great
opportunity for two of my ladies to get to know each other a little bit better!
The day was ultimately a success due to the fact that if nothing else, I won $250
off of my videographer package! A sweet friend named Emily Harp runs Shining Star Media here in Valdosta and does some
wonderful work! Jessica filled out the info card to place in the drawing, and
as she did she told Emily to pull my name. Long story short, my name was
pulled, along with another girl to keep it fair, and I now have my
videographer! So excited to work with Emily!
Mom,Karen, and Rosalie all braved a massive Atlanta bridal expo together that same
weekend. Apparently I have a 30lb bag of goodies waiting for me at home! Rosie
was the pretend bride for the day so that they could still get all of the
exciting perks and deals. She signed me up for deals and discounts left and
right! I'm glad that the moms and Rosie were able to get to know each other
better, and still be involved in the wedding from so far away!
As of today we have booked our entertainment for the evening as well. We went back
and forth over and over again about a DJ or a band. We ended up deciding on a
band and are super excited about it! Our DJ has worked with Alcyone Plantation
many times and we feel like he will be the perfect fit for our day. Can't wait to
start picking songs and working with Millennium Entertainment!
JD is being a super helpful groom as we make ALL decisions together. Of course he
won't have a say so in my dress, but he is literally being helpful with
everything else. I'm so lucky to have his help with decisions, and my sanity!
We are obviously moving along with the plans and hope to have several more
vendors booked soon. We are currently in the middle of meetings/negotiations/tastings/etc.
with our potential caterer, bakers, and florist. Seemingly, the hardest thing
is getting someone to understand JD's concept for his grooms cake!
I also need to give a shout out to my mom... BEST help EVER! Thanks to my mom, we
have at least four appointments scheduled (that I know of) to go dress
shopping in 3 weeks. She did all of the scheduling and rescheduling. She called
my florist to get the ball rolling. She has offered to play the heavy should
any situations get too tense. She listens to me gush over every detail to her
every single day. She's the BEST. Thanks Momma!
So for now, farewell to this insanely LONG post. Hello to a trip to the dentist
tomorrow afternoon! Cavity fillings... YIKES!
